Policy Analyst -- Colorado Health Institute

We are nonprofit and nonpartisan, charged with a unique role in Colorado to provide unbiased and evidence-based data and analysis to health leaders and policymakers.

 

Policy Analyst 

Responsibilities
Conduct policy analyses as part of a project team.  
Develop content expertise in one or two program areas.
 
Create appropriate responses to emerging health policy issues such as written analyses, publications, oral presentations or convening activities.
 
Write succinct, reader-friendly policy analyses that are accessible to a variety of audiences.
 
Conduct qualitative research, including key informant interviews and literature reviews.
 
Keep abreast of developments in program areas in Colorado and nationally.
 

Required Skills and Qualifications
Demonstrated quantitative experience analyzing data to formulate research questions.
Familiarity with a range of health and health care databases.

Demonstrated experience collecting and analyzing qualitative data.

Demonstrated ability to synthesize technical information for broader audiences.

Exceptional written communication skills, including the ability to translate complex ideas into clear, easy-to-understand concepts.

Ability to work collaboratively with CHI staff and stakeholders.

Public speaking and presentation skills, including experience presenting complicated subject matter to non-expert audiences.

Ability to analyze various health-related public policy initiatives.

Comfortable engaging in multiple complex research projects simultaneously.

A high level of self-motivation, self-direction and intellectual curiosity.  

 

Desired Skills
Familiarity with statistical analysis software, GIS and/or graphic design software.

Experience with group facilitation.  

Experience and Education
Master’s degree(s) in public health, public policy, or health services research.

Three to five years of relevant work experien
ce.
