Job Summary

 

The Encounter Data Quality Team Lead is a senior data analyst team leader in the Encounter Data Quality Unit (EDQ), charged with enhancing and maintaining the quality of managed care encounter data. In so doing, this position will oversee a wide variety of efforts focused on data quality directed at supporting agency-wide analysis, research, database design and development, and data management activities.

 

This position will plan, train, oversee and direct section efforts to monitor and improve all aspects of data quality, including accuracy, timeliness, completeness and consistency. This position provides expert direction and team leadership to divisional and interdivisional data analysis projects on performance measurement, diagnostic-based risk adjustment, and utilization analysis necessary for management of health care programs. 

 

This position is part of the HCA interdivisional data team which develops and manages a strategic plan for data management across HCA and serves in a team lead capacity, providing direction to team members, and training/mentoring to less senior analysts.  The position must understand and incorporate into section activity efforts to analyze health care data for purposes such as estimating the need for health care services, evaluating and improving payment methodologies, estimating the impact of changes in delivery and payment systems, and measuring health care outcomes. The position plans and designs studies and efforts to improve and maintain data streams that are timely, accurate and consistent.

Minimum qualifications:

  • 4 years of advanced professional research experience in the health or social sciences, including data and statistical analysis.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a health, analytics, research, or public administration related field may substitute for 6 months of experience.
  • OR Advanced degree in related field may substitute for 18 months of experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of data collection, data manipulation, data transformation and interpretation, and statistical analysis.
  • Experience and proficiency with SAS and SQL programming tools.
