The Environmental Public Health Tracking, Hospitalization Content Work Group, ICD-10 Sub-team met with individuals from NAHDO and the Ginger Cox from University of California, Davis to discuss transitioning the Nationally Consistent Data and Measures (NCDMs) for hospital admissions and emergency department visits from ICD-9 to ICD-10 coding. NCDMs of interest include acute myocardial infarction (AMI), asthma, carbon monoxide poisoning, and heat-related illness, and this meeting focused on coding for AMI. Sub-team members were given an introduction to MapIt software, a brief overview of important changes from ICD-9 to ICD-10, and insight into how these changes will affect definitions for AMI.
