Introduction (draft)
This site was developed by the National Association of Health Data Organizations (NAHDO) under a technical assistance task funded by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) Healthcare Cost and Utilization Project (HCUP). The purpose of this site is to assist state and private health data agencies plan and improve their Emergency Department systems by providing a catalogue of state ED resources and links. Health data agencies that are seeking to implement or expand their ED reporting systems will benefit from the technical and analytic reports developed by their peers.
The map below indicates which states have implemented statewide Emergency Department systems, which are highlighted in blue. Each health data agency was contacted by NAHDO to verify and update information about their ED system, including date ED data was first collected, links to statutes and rules, links to technical documentation, and finally, links to ED reports and query systems. Twenty-five health data agencies were invited to complete a brief NAHDO inventory, with telephone follow-up by NAHDO. Over 20 responses have been compiled into information on this website.
